Tsuruoka (Ooyama) - Sanze - Yunohama - Ooyama 37km ( Yamagata pref.)
鶴岡市郊外、武家屋敷街の面影残る大山の町から海に出て海岸沿いを走り、湯野浜温泉から廃線跡のサイクリングロードで名刹善宝寺に至る、けっこう盛りだくさんな楽しいコース。
Ooyama has some interesting old houses, and there are more in Tsutuoka, 10km east．
風情の残る大山の町、旧役場跡。洋館建築に興味のある向きは鶴岡市街のポタをおすすめ。いろいろあります。
大山「いろは食堂」の中華そばはおすすめ "Iroha"'s good ramen noodle

川沿いに海に向かって下っていく。日東道が出来てこのあたりの景色もだいぶ変わってしまったけれど。 along the river, path decends to the coast.

善宝寺 室町時代創建だが山門は江戸時代末期作
massive Zenpoji Temple (34km)
明治になって建立された五重塔。魚を供養しているそうな。そういえばこの寺はむかし人面魚で有名になった。 Five-storied tower of Zenpoji
向かいには旧庄内交通の善宝寺駅跡。1975年の廃線のあとしばらく記念館として保存されていたものの、今ではそれも廃業、朽ちるがままに放置されている。何とかしてあげたいが。
